Expedition China

For the past five weeks in our homeschool, we have devoted one day each week to the study of China.

Thanks to Amanda Bennett’s wonderful “Expedition China” unit study, we’ve had an amazing time taking an in-depth look into Logan’s birth country.

We’ve explored animals, inventions, people, special places, traditions and missionaries important to China’s history.  We’ve learned about the Chinese language and had fun making delicious Chinese recipes.

(Making yummy dim sum treats!)

We are learning so much about Logan's birth country.  It's important for us to learn and it will be important for him to remember.

Our precious son was born in China.
And we will soon become a transracial family.
No longer just American.
No longer just Chinese.
But a blending of two unique cultures.
We will soon be celebrating the heritage of two different countries.

We don't want our son to forget.
We don't want him to leave his Chinese heritage behind.

So, we will continue to study and enjoy learning more about the beautiful country and culture of China.  It's impossible to be fully prepared for what may lie ahead, but we'll do our best.

We completely trust that God is in full control of this journey.
And He will continue to order our steps.
He will be with all of us as we meet for the first time.
He will be with us as we transition into a transracial family.
He will be there, always; step, after step, after step...

"The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand."
Psalm 37:23-24
